OUR STORY

Like most Jesus stories, Highways and Byways was born from brokenness. Our founder, Alton Walker, spent some time living on the streets of Oklahoma City. He had walked away from his family, the church, and ultimately from God. But God wasn't done with Alton and chased after him to bring him home. Today, Alton is at home with family, at home with the church, and at home with God.
Since our founding in 2017, Alton has been joining God in His mission to chase down the people living along the Highways and Byways of Oklahoma City. The ministry serves food out of a church van on Friday and Saturday evenings. We offer to transport people to Sunday morning worship, and we try to build relationships with people so they can build a relationship with Christ.

Our ultimate dream is to have a ministry resource facility in the heart of downtown OKC that will minister to people where they are so God can take them where He wants them to be.

OUR MISSION

Our mission is to go to every person who lives along the Highways and Byways of Oklahoma City. We see them. We feed them. We invite them to get to know us and ultimately to know Jesus Christ. We recognize that in our attempts to be Jesus to the least of these, that we have an opportunity to experience the presence of Christ when we serve strangers.
